- James Freeman Clarke

Reflection :
I think that what this quote is trying to say to us is that what we do as an today will after us later in life one way or another . It never stays the same , maybe today you don't wanna go to school in 20 years you might have kids and they'll be hungry but will you have the money to be able to provide food for them , your actions now will reflect later when you actually have a life of your own and when you don't need to depend on your parents good actions now will come in handy later.

" The best way to predict your future is to create it."

- Charles Ketterer

Reflection :
I think that what this quote is trying to say is that no one other than yourself is capable of achieving your goals , no one can change your thought towards the future , therefore you shouldn't put your future or depend on anyone to get to where you want to be . Do you and don't worry about no one else because at the end of the day who's there ? YOU .. do what's best for you , no one else.

Bless You

“Bless You “

Whenever someone sneezes, you say “Bless You “or hear someone say these words.

Why? Why are these words spoken?
For the most part, the various sneeze responses originated from ancient superstitions. Some people believed that a sneeze causes the soul to escape the body through the nose. Saying "bless you" would stop the devil from claiming the person's freed soul.
When? When did the saying originate?
Wishing someone well after they sneeze probably originated thousands of years ago. The Romans would say "Jupiter preserve you" or "Salve," which meant "good health to you," and the Greeks would wish each other "long life." The phrase "God bless you" is attributed to Pope Gregory the Great, who uttered it in the sixth century during a bubonic plague epidemic (sneezing is an obvious symptom of one form of the plague).
How? How did this saying originate?
The exchangeable term "gesundheit" comes from Germany, and it literally means "health." The idea is that a sneeze typically precedes illness. It entered the English language in the early part of the 20th century, brought to the United States by German-speaking immigrants.
Where? Where did this saying originate?
sneeze responses originated from ancient superstitions.

Summary :

I think that what she did is very inspirational because its letting people know that money that you didn't get yourself simply isn't correct to take . I think that she should've gotten a reward for what she did because if someone else would've found it i think that they would've taken it but her on the other hand , she looked for the owner and returned the money without a doubt . She knew what the correct thing was and followed what she had been teached even if the amount of money that she found could have been beneficial to her , she returned it , not expecting anything in return. Her good deed proves that not everyone takes things that really doesn't belong to them .

I think that what this little boy did is that he may of inspired alot of people just by a little green sticky note and a 20 dollar bill and a memory of his father . I think that this little boy has been carrying the memory of his father with him wherever he goes and now that he has found the 20 dollar bill and a soldier out in the look it reminded him of his dad , and decided that instead of keeping the money and buying something with it he'll give it to the soldier who serves his country the same way his father did , and the same way his father died . I think that what he did is very meaningful because the soldier reads the note everyday hoping someone else along the way might get inspired by it , just the same way he has .

presidents day

Presidents Day

Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present.George Washington's Birthday is celebrated as a federal holiday on the third Monday in February. It is one of eleven permanent holidays established by Congress.Federal holidays apply only to the federal government and the District of Columbia; Congress has never declared a national holiday binding in all states and each state decides its own legal holidays.George Washington was born in Virginia on February 11, 1731, according to the then-used Julian calendar. In 1752, however, Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar which moved Washington's birthday a year and 11 days to February 22, 1732. President's Day is a day set aside to honor all of the U.S. presidents. We often think of two great presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln when we celebrate this holiday, as it falls by design between their birthdays. More and more of us, look at this day as a tribute to each and every person who has ever served in the office f the President of the United States of America. It is a national holiday,. While Federal employees, the post office, and banks have the day off, most businesses and industry do not recognize it as a paid holiday.
In the 1700s, George Washington's birthday was celebrated while he was still alive, and many in the U.S. took part in the festivities. He was born in 1732 and died in 1799.
George Washington was president for two terms, from 1789 to 1793, and 1793 to 1797.
George Washington had important military roles prior to becoming president. Under his leadership, the American Continental Army defeated the British in 1783. Many believe he is the most important politician in American history.
In 1879, approximately one century later, President Rutherford B. Hayes signed the bill making February 22nd a federal holiday.
Abraham Lincoln's birthday falls closely to George Washington but his is not a federal holiday. Many states still celebrate his birthday along with George Washington's.
There are three universities and the capital of the United States, Washington DC named after George Washington, as is Washington State.
George Washington is featured on the quarter dollar coin and the one dollar bill.
Cherries are very popular when making desserts for celebrating George Washington's birthday. The reason for the popularity of cherries relates directly to a story about George Washington. When asked if he'd cut down a cherry tree, George Washington said he could not tell a lie.
It became common in the late 1980s for retailers to use Presidents' Day as a day to sell off old stock.
Since 1888, George Washington's Farewell Address has been read in the senate on February 22nd of most years.
Schools often organize lessons and other activities for their students in the days leading up to the holiday. Some occur weeks ahead as the holiday sometimes falls during the week that school is closed for mid-winter recess.
Some spell it President's Day and some spell it Presidents' Day. Presidents' Day refers to more than one president while President's Day refers to one President. The difference in spelling may be because some celebrate George Washington alone on this day and others celebrate George and Abraham Lincoln, while some may be celebrating all presidents.
Even though it is a federal holiday, each state is free to call it what they choose and how to celebrate.
Lincoln, William Harrison and Ronald Reagan. Most celebrate Presidents' Day in honorThere were four presidents born in February including George Washington, Abraham  of the first two.

History of Basketball

History of Basketball

  1. The "history of basketball" begins with the invention of the game in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts in the United States. Canadian James Naismith invented the first basketball game. The first basketball type game may have been played by the early Olmec people of ancient Mexico as early as 500 years ago. The Aztec, and Mayan cultures also had a game similar to basketball, only instead of a rubber ball they used the decapitated skulls of their conquered foes. The first true basketball game as we know it was on January 20th, 1892 in Springfield , Massachusetts. Canadian Doctor James Naismith invented the game for the YMCA to play during the winter months. Naismith wrote simple rules for the game , and nailed up two peach baskets for hoops, most of original Naismith rules are still in place since then, such as in the original game bouncing the ball was prohibited . Of the 13 rules, nine have been modified and kept in the modern game of basketball, the rest have been disregarded. The first competitive basketball leagues were all local leagues , usually within the larger eats coast cities like New York  , Philadelphia , and Boston . On some occasion's teams from other regions would travel to play another team. Once such occasion took place November 7 , 1896. This was the first known professional basketball game was played in Trenton New Jersey between the Trenton YMCA and the Brooklyn YMCA. The game was played at the Trenton Masonic temple, an admission fee was charged for admittance into the game. Each player got $15 expect Fred Cooper who got $16 dollars, and became the first highest paid player. Trenton  defeated Brooklyn !5-1 to win the first ever professional basketball game . James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891. James Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario and educated at McGill University and Presbyterian Cllege in Montreal. He was the physical education teacher at McGill University (1887 to 1890) and at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts (1890 to 1895). At Springfield College (which was then the Y.M.C.A. training school), James Naismith, under the direction of American phys-ed specialist Luther Halsey Gulick, invented the indoor sport of basketball.

Christian & Tana

Christian & Tana

Reflection :

Tana was an old woman who's husband had passed away and had went o the cementary to visit him , without knowing that such tragedy was about to happen . A guy snatched her purse and ran with $700 dollars . He was captured by the police and his picture was all over the news , the son of this guy saw and without a doubt he knew it was his father. He asked to meet with tana and he apologized , he was planning to go on a band trip and had just received $250 dollars from his father without a doubt he got the money from his wallet and handed over to tana and said " i don't know who's money this is , but i want you to keep this. " she took and money and said " i could do anything i want with this money therefore i would want you to keep it " . This showed that christian didn't care whether he went to that band trip he really had been wanting to go to , he just simply wanted to do what was right, he left that church parking lot with anew friend and money for his band trip . To me this shows that , he is a great boy who's capable of achieving anything he wants because of that act of generosity he was known and now people can admire him for doing what he did.
